Just added a new project in my portfolio, Hangton Pacific.
This is a good example of Jooml! CMS 1.5 and Virtuemart implementation with shopping cart system disabled. The virtuemart is being used as a catalog.

Joomla! installation issue - MySQL Script

Yesterday, I setup a new localhost environment for development in Joomla! 1.5 using XAMPP. I downloaded and installed XAMPP 1.7.4 that came with PHP 5.3.5 and MySQL Server 5.5.8. During the installation process, Joomla! installer failed due to the following error in database script:

"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPE=MyISAM CHARACTER SET `utf8`' at line 29 SQL=CREATE TABLE `jos_banner` ( `bid` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `cid` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `type` varchar(30) NOT NULL default 'banner', `name` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '', `alias` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '', `imptotal` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `impmade` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `clicks` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `imageurl` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '', `clickurl` varchar(200) NOT NULL default '', `date` datetime default NULL, `showBanner` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '0', `checked_out` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '0', `checked_out_time` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `editor` varchar(50) default NULL, `custombannercode` text, `catid` INTEGER UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, `description` TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `sticky` TINYINT(1) UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, `ordering` INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, `publish_up` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `publish_down` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `tags` TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `params` TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '', PRIMARY KEY (`bid`), KEY `viewbanner` (`showBanner`), INDEX `idx_banner_catid`(`catid`) ) TYPE=MyISAM CHARACTER SET `utf8`"

I fixed this error by changing "TYPE=MyISAM" to "ENGINE=MyISAM" in the SQL file for Joomla! installer.

This happens only for MySQL Server 5.5.x since the database storage is now referred to as ENGINE instead of TYPE for older versions of MySQL.

Farewell E2E ...

Assalam-u-Alaikum,

As you people already know, today is my last working day in E2E.  (Tomorrow we are going to Murree  :D )

First, I’d like to thank Shoaeb and Aqeel for trusting me with my skills and providing great work opportunities. I just hope and pray that I have been up to the mark and achieved all levels of their expectations from me both personally and professionally.

What a wonderful journey it has been ... :)  Thank you all very much for everything...

Special thanks for all the team members I have worked with. I have had great times with Sarfraz, Jahanzeb, Adeel, Wasif, Adil, Usman, Imran, Waqar, Mohsin, Imran, Taqdees, Feroze, Umar, Gulnaz, Jawad ...
And all other colleagues including Qureshi sb, Qamar, Adnan, Waqar, Shahzad, Sohail, Saher and all the bacha party downstairs... :)

Now some of you may object but I did have had good times with Iftikhar as welllllll  ;) :p :p

Also, I will never forget the definition of a Software House by Khan:
‘Yeh woh jaga hai jahan log atey hain aur keyboard ki mat mar kay chaley jatey hain’  :D :D :D
